Today I got a scornful gaze from those in line behind me when I decided to check out at the 15 items or less counter with 19 items in my cart.
What rules do you sometimes feel little or no shame when breaking?

a few times in college when i felt bad for skipping church, i would get up, get dressed, and go to the dining hall for lunch as if i'd gone to church, just so people didn't come home from church to find me still asleep.
one time i did that and came back to find a bunch of people still in their pajamas because they'd skipped church too. i didn't feel so bad.
Somehow I don't think people will mind if I slip in an extra item or two in the express lane but I get ticked off when others do it. I will set there and count their items and say in my mind, "Jerk, He's got 12 items in the 10 items lane. Doesn't he know I'm in a hurry?" Somehow I think my 3 peanut butters should count as one item while I will sit and count his apples! Lord, forgive me for being so judgemental!

I think the glare was made worse by the fact that the people behind me only had three items.
